DMG Mori has a game changer for rapid production!

| January 12, 2014

DMG Mori has create a hybrid (additive and subtractive) 3D laser sintering / 5 axis CNC machine.  This machine can “build” the raw blank of a part by laser sintering powdered metal into the rough form.  Basically it build up the part by spaying metal powder and melting in place with a high power laser beam.  In the raw state, the blank looks very similar to a metal casting. Once the raw blank has been created, the CNC side of this machine takes over and completes the part doing anything that any 5 axis VMC does.  What a great combination of technology!.  Hit the link to see this beauty in action.  NOTE:  There is no sound so don’t worry, your speakers aren’t broken.
